• You'd love to have a family portrait session that fully captures who you are, how you connect, and how much affection surfaces when all the members of your family are present within the camera frame.

We're happy to capture your family in our studio, complete with gorgeous light and minimal distractions, or in your comfy-cozy home full of familiar toys and routines. No matter where our session takes place, we'll delight in your delight. And we'll encourage you to pay attention to one another instead of the camera, because there's no 'add happy' button in Photoshop.

We don't care whether you're barefoot or wearing fuzzy slippers, and we won't be sending over a twenty-page list of suggestions about what to wear. (We can make you look beautiful in sweat pants if you love each other.) We just want to capture your family. Your habits, your quirks, and your love. And when you view the images we've created together for the first time, we want the depth of love you feel for your family to grab you by the collar and bring tears to your eyes.

The video below provides a peek at how portrait sessions unfold. If you have questions or would like to schedule a portrait session, click on the 'Contact' link above or call 215-206-3689. Oh -- and thanks for stopping by, lovely!

PHILADELPHIA PET RESCUE

He walked into the house, grabbed a scoop of cat food, and went back outside.

Having fed our fair share of stray cats, I knew Matt was up to something, and that something probably had fur and needed food. This time, though, the cat didn’t scamper away as we approached. She was so weak that she let us hold her, love her, and bring her inside. Having just adopted a dog, which has traumatized the existing cats enough for this year, we can’t keep her. We have no idea if she’s simply starving or truly sick.

She is friendly, sweet, and utterly pathetic. She appears to have been recently spayed, and also has evidence of a pretty nasty encounter with…something…on her front leg and behind her neck. I’ll keep scouring Craigslist for pet owners who may claim her, but in the meantime…please? Pretty please, take her and love her?

We cleaned her up after these photos were taken. Yes, Craigslist e-mailers, I’ve separated her from my other animals, and yes, we will be getting her antibiotics and a vet’s opinion.

Edited to add: thanks to everyone for your kind words, shelter suggestions, and offers to help Kitty find a home. We met with a vet first thing this morning. Turns out Kitty’s severe dehydration led to organ failure. The vet estimated her age at 17, she didn’t have an ID chip, and the vet recommended we put this kitty down. Kitty went to visit the big ball of catnip in the sky. Matt and I cried all the way home.

Please forgive any wonky coloring, as these were taken in the basement with a bare bulb and flashlight, then processed on my uncalibrated laptop monitor, with great haste.

Chelsea - :( Poor kitty. At least she knew love when she found you, and didn’t have to suffer anymore. :(

Chelsea - hey sweetie, what a poor little kitty! Don’t forget about the Kitty Cottage. They have found a new home on JOhnson Highway in Norristown. I don’t know if they have criteria for taking kitties, but you should contact them if the vet feels like she’s ok. http://www.kittycottage.org

Jess - Also, you may want to get onto the Catster forums (http://www.catster.com/forums/Shelters_Rescue_and_Fostering ) and see if anyone in your area can help.

I’d also be happy to ask on Metafilter if there are any vets or shelters in the Philly area who could take this sweetie on, if you need me to.

Pamela - this just breaks my heart! she looks like she could be a really beautiful cat and if i wasn’t all the way in STL, i’d convince my husband to take her off your hands. good luck!

Lynn - Please consider having her checked out. If she got in a scrap she may have a puncture wound that could abcess and you won’t know for days until she goes downhill. Or she may already be there. Sounds like she needs antibiotics asap. I have taken care of my share of hurt/sick kitties. They are tough, but she looks like she needs to see a vet. Your humane society may give you a break if she’s a stray, or set up a paypal. I’m sure people would donate a few bucks. A healthy kitty is much more adoptable than a sick one. Thank you for caring & rescuing her!

Chrissie - Gosh i would in a heartbeat if we didnt already have more cats than our apartment is allowed! She also looks just like the kitten we just rescued. Poor lady!

bwlight - Whenever I see someone kind like you, I have to say “thank you for getting her off the street!” (She reminds me of a kitty, so sweet, that I rescued 10 years ago.) More recently, we found a kitten who needed med attention, got it for her & now she’s “Gypsy” and she makes me smile every single day. It breaks my heart too, when they are so helpless and just need a bit of care and some TLC. Bless you for helping her find a good home!
