• You'd love to have a family portrait session that fully captures who you are, how you connect, and how much affection surfaces when all the members of your family are present within the camera frame.

We're happy to capture your family in our studio, complete with gorgeous light and minimal distractions, or in your comfy-cozy home full of familiar toys and routines. No matter where our session takes place, we'll delight in your delight. And we'll encourage you to pay attention to one another instead of the camera, because there's no 'add happy' button in Photoshop.

We don't care whether you're barefoot or wearing fuzzy slippers, and we won't be sending over a twenty-page list of suggestions about what to wear. (We can make you look beautiful in sweat pants if you love each other.) We just want to capture your family. Your habits, your quirks, and your love. Die-hard beach goers? World travelers? Animal lovers? Trekkies? We wanna see it. And when you view the images we've created together for the first time, we want the depth of love you feel for your family to grab you by the collar and bring tears to your eyes.

The video below provides a peek at how portrait sessions unfold. If you have questions or would like to schedule a portrait session, click on the 'Contact' link above or call 215-206-3689. Oh -- and thanks for stopping by, lovely!

P.S. That's Kristen up in the header -- Haunani is camera-shy.

  • The studio is closed through August 10th for summer vacation -- vive la France!

PAULETTE DIXON ROCKS OUT TOMORROW.

This is a first, for me: an image from one of my sessions on the cover of an album.  Which image?  You’ll have to go to Paulette Dixon’s CD Release Party tomorrow at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore to find out…below, a nifty little interview:

Name?

Paulette “Pali” Dixon.

Shoe size?

Big enough that a little Japanese lady in a shoe store in Hawaii (we used to live there) told me “We don’t have anything in your size here, ma’am.”

Favorite ice cream flavor?

Fried. (Ask me for the recipe)

Previous jobs of interest?

Equipment rental. Ask me anything about jackhammers and trenchers.
Women’s lingerie at KMart @ age 16…

How did you get into music?

I started singing my own songs at an early age, maybe 5. My first song was about Father Abraham from the Bible. It was about his life…having to wait until he was 100 years old before he had his first son. And then he became president. It was quite a life…

My mom and dad gave me piano lessons starting in 4th grade. I didn’t like the rigor of learning the technical parts past the 8th grade level or so. That’s when I started to really play around with writing songs with the piano. Making up my own stuff was a lot more fun. Lazy does have its benefits! (Although, now I wish I would have paid a bit more attention to my theory classes.)

What led to the release of this album, Bite of the Sky?

Ten years of saying, “I’m going to record an album this year.” Seriously. That, and because my 12 fans–mostly family–have been asking so nicely. It’s also the thing you do, I guess. You write songs, record them, hope someone likes them, and maybe one will find its way home…to an artist who will knock it out of the park, to a movie…or to someone’s heart.

What’s your favorite song on the album, and why?

“Drift”. The background vocals are sung by Sharon Little who does some freaky cool stuff with her voice that you just cannot stop listening to…over and over again.

CD Release details…?

July 10th at MilkBoy in Ardmore. Get it for a fiver!

Yay!  Now go get your tickets, and I’ll see you tomorrow, lovely Paulette groupie!

SHORE SHOOTING: SNAPSHOT HELP – new jersey photographer

So, you’re hitting the shore this weekend, and you’re about to take 3,478 pictures.  Some tips for making sure at least 3,000 of ‘em are keepers:

shoreblog1
* The best light at the shore will happen when the sun isn’t directly overhead and/or drilling itself into your kids’ eyeballs.  So, 8-10 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. are great times for grabbing atmospheric pictures.

shoreblog3
* If your kiddos insist on being on the beach in midday, bring sunglasses. You’ve tripled their cuteness factor and eliminated the Mom-it-hurts-to-look-at-the-camera beach shots that will just get deleted anyway.

shoreblog5
* If you have an SLR camera, please don’t change lenses while on the beach, as sand on your camera’s sensor can cause crazy damage. Hit up a close-by building that is free of wind to switch lenses.

* It’s totally okay to beg a stranger to take your family picture so that Mom is actually included in at least one of the pictures. Totally okay.

* Don’t forget to put your camera down and enjoy the moment! Happy vacation!
